Boston Indivisible and Mass 50501 Host “Boston ICE Tea Party” on December 16

A Modern Re-Creation of Boston’s Original Anti-Tyranny Protest

WHAT: On the  anniversary of the American Revolution’s 1773 Boston Tea Party protest, Boston Indivisible and Mass 50501 (“fifty-fifty-one”) will hold the Boston ICE Tea Party, a modern-day civic action against  political tyranny and unwarranted ICE attacks on our community.

Today’s American patriots will hurl blocks of  ice into the  Boston Harbor,  at the spot where angry revolutionaries threw tea leaves into the water 252 years ago,  to protest the Trump Administration’s  terror campaign by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) goons against our neighbors. The protesters also will spotlight  the Trump Administration’s corruption, authoritarianism, and destruction of  our democratic norms. Timed to follow Revolutionary Spaces’ reenactment of the original Tea Party meeting at the Old South Meeting House, this event will highlight parallels between past and present — including abuses of power, unjust tariffs, political retribution, and armed government intimidation. The action culminates at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, where the symbolic ICE  tea party will connect  Boston’s revolutionary legacy to today’s struggle for democracy and justice.

This is a nonviolent action. We expect all participants to remain peaceful and to try to de-escalate any potential confrontations.
