Boston Says No Kings!

Get Updated

No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings in Boston. Saturday, Oct 18 12-3PM at the Parade Grounds in Boston Common. Wicked Pissed. Wicked Loud. Wicked United

We’re wicked pissed!
Wicked loud!
Wicked united!

Join us Saturday, October 18 at the Parade Grounds on Boston Common (Beacon & Charles St).

The entire event will be held in the Common -- there is no march.

We’re standing together against the abuses of power, cruelty, and corruption of this Regime and saying with one voice — wicked loud —: “America has No Kings!”

Boston, we can’t stand by. We won’t back down.

Peaceful? Absolutely. Passive? Never.

Join the ACLU of Massachusetts, Indivisible Mass Coalition, Mass 50501, and partners from across the pro-democracy and pro-worker movement as we rise together. This is not a typical rally: learn how to get involved locally at our action tables, participate in creative resistance, and enjoy entertainment on our main stage.

Boston is the birthplace of the American Revolution. No Kings is about defending that legacy — and stopping tyranny and authoritarianism in its tracks. This country doesn’t belong to strongmen. It belongs to us, the people.

The power is in our hands. 💪

Bringing together organizations, artists, and changemakers takes resources.

This is a nonviolent action. Organizers are trained in de-escalation and work closely with local partners to ensure peaceful and powerful actions.

We expect all participants to remain non-violent and de-escalate any potential confrontations.

Main Stage

Emcee

Rahsaan Hall, President and CEO of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts

Speakers

Performers

Guerilla Theater

Near Parkman Bandstand

  • American Gulag

    • A short tragic performance demonstrating ICE’s dehumanizing and cruel intake process, and depicting an inmate’s daily life in a modern concentration camp.

  • SNOW

    • A satirical play that mocks the administration's agents who are currently terrorizing our communities. SNOW encourages audience members to stand with our immigrant neighbors who are under threat and view the agents threatening our communities with the contempt that they deserve. Join us for this depiction of two hapless SNOW agents getting a very Boston (un)welcome as they attempt to encroach upon our liberties.

Calls to Action

  1. Protect our immigrant neighbors who are being profiled, threatened, and kidnapped

Join a community ICE watch group so agents know we are watching them, volunteer to assist with vital mutual aid, bond and legal needs, and stand out in solidarity at ICE offices. More information from organizations, including LUCE, MIRA, BIJAN, and Bearing Witness @ ICE in Burlington.

  2. Fight with your dollars

Hit them where it hurts by boycotting corporations and billionaires that are doing Trump’s bidding. Don’t check out at the checkout; patriotic dissent happens everywhere!

  3. Hold your Reps accountable

Keep the pressure on and keep calling them out. Use the 5Calls app. Email and show up at their offices. If they can’t fix this, we’ll find others who will.

FAQ

Access

  • We’re working to finalize this as soon as possible.

  • Yes, the area is mostly flat and accessible to wheels with curb-cuts for transitions from the street to sidewalks to the common.

  • Yes. Please review the site map or seek out an organizer in a safety vest for help locating it. If you have limited mobility or use a mobility device, we recommend entering the Common at the Beacon & Charles entrance.

  • There are porta potties stationed throughout the common, including ADA accessible ones. Please review the site map or seek out an organizer in a safety vest for help locating one closest to you.

Messaging and Imagery

  • Bring your flags: American, Pride, Earth, etc. Let’s show who the real Americans are! Bring signs, costumes, and anything else that will bring some joy too! Don’t forget any items to help keep you comfortable! Water, snacks and appropriate clothing for the weather are highly recommended.

  • The No Kings! Boston protest will feature Mayor Michelle Wu and other leading voices of resistance and will include powerful speeches, music, and performances.

  • There will be over 30 organizations hosting action tables to help turn your outrage into peaceful, organized action. Organizations include 350 Mass, National Move to Amend, The Educational Freedom Project, and many more. See the full list on the event page.

Safety

  • Yes. Please review the following:

    1. Stick with a buddy or your group.

    2. Make a plan in case you get separated.

    3. Be aware of your surroundings (who is around you, where exit paths are located, etc.)

    4. Embrace the joy of community and generosity of spirit. Introduce yourself to a fellow marcher.

    5. Be alert rather than fearful.

    6. Singing a song together is the best way to calm a group of people.

    7. Ignore agitators and stay focused on democracy. If you encounter an agitator, walk away, deny them fuel and attention, and encourage others to do the same.

    8. Walk with linked arms to show our solidarity.

    9. Clean up after yourself.

    10. Maintain space and be patient.

  • A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. If someone is trying to troll you or agitate you- Don't take the bait! Ignore them and move on. For more tips, we recommend these resources.

  • When you consider attending actions, we encourage you to assess your safety concerns through two lenses: YOU and the ENVIRONMENT.

YOU: Consider whether your identity or status (e.g., race, immigration status) may put you at risk and assess your tolerance for exposure. Also consider safety factors such as:

    • Is an event during the day or after dark?

    • Is an event stated as non-violent?

    • What is the likelihood of agitators outnumbering us at this event?

Using this formulation, you would determine that today’s event is during the day, explicitly non-violent, and if there are any agitators, we would greatly outnumber them.

After making these considerations you can make adjustments such as:

    • Deciding how visually identifiable you want to be.

    • Deciding how secure you want to make your phone.

    • Learning the National Lawyers Guild MA phone number: 617-433-8353

Transportation

  • We highly recommend using public transportation. The closest MBTA stop is Park Street. Plan your trip using the MBTA Trip Planner.

If you choose to drive, we recommend pre-booking a spot using a service like SpotHero. Please note there are many events happening in the Boston area on Saturday – give yourself extra time.
