Thank you to the more than 650 of you who filled out the Mass 50501 Survey! We have run the raffle and reached out to the winners. Please double check your inboxes and spam folders.

It was wonderful to learn more about our Mass 50501 Community. We were thrilled to learn that almost half of you first found us by word of mouth! Strong interpersonal ties are the backbone of our organization. In every aspect of our work, we are stronger together. Please help us continue to grow by sharing our mission with your friends, family, and extended networks. You’ve likely seen our recent articles on Spreading the Message and Spreading the Movement. Using the tools outlined in those pieces can help us build the “big tent” necessary to defend and better our democracy.

We are happy to find that many of you are willing to show up rain or shine to stand together against tyranny, and we hear that event location is important to you. We look forward to having more events across the state and reaching every corner of Massachusetts. Your passion extends beyond attending protests, rallies, and marches: more than two-thirds of you said you are willing to call elected officials, reach out to friends, family, and coworkers, and participate in boycotts. More than half of you indicated willingness to participate in a general strike sometime in the future.

That outstanding enthusiasm is exactly what we need to keep up the fight against authoritarianism! And we have ways to put that enthusiasm to work. Join our Discord to follow our “Daily Actions” thread, which lists timely ways to engage with our movement at home. It may make you want to join a team to help organize an event, work on research and strategy, contribute to a zine, make social media content, keep the website up to date, fundraise for events, or just get to know other members of our amazing community. To make sure you never miss an action or event, follow us on Bluesky and turn on notifications.

Although we are still in the process of reading through all of your comments, we’ve already started turning your feedback into actions. Many of you wrote that you wanted a better idea of our long term strategy and event demands. We realise that these often get buried in event descriptions, making them difficult to find. For future events, we will be adding a “Goals and Demands” heading on all Event Pages to help make sure these are clear and easy to find (see our addition at the bottom of our page for July 17th’s Good Trouble Lives On event for an example). As for our long-term goals as an organization, we not only seek to defend democracy from the current authoritarian administration, but to better it for future generations. American democracy has never been accessible to all who live here, so it is our mission to bring us closer to that ideal. We are proud of the steps we’ve made to be more inclusive to minoritized groups, confident in the power of nonviolent civil resistance to reverse democratic backsliding, and determined to reclaim our democratic republic from the grip of tyranny.
