QuitGPT: Boycott ChatGPT to Fight AI-Assisted Abuses of Power
Mass 50501 supports QuitGPT.org in boycotting ChatGPT
Why Boycott ChatGPT?
QuitGPT is organizing Americans and people around the world to quit ChatGPT. From their website:
ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman recently accepted the Pentagon's AI deal, putting us all at risk of lethal AI for the sake of his company's profits.OpenAI agreed to let the Pentagon use its tech for "any lawful purpose", including killer robots and mass surveillance.
Moreover, OpenAI president Greg Brockman and his wife donated $25 million to MAGA Inc in 2025 (and CEO Sam Altman donated $1M to Trump's 2025 Inaugural Fund). They gave Trump 26x more than any other major AI company. ICE's resume screening tool is powered by OpenAI's GPT-4. They're spending 50 million dollars to prevent states from regulating AI so only Trump can.
ChatGPT enables mental-health crises through sycophancy and dependence by replacing human relationships with AI girlfriends/boyfriends. Many employees have quit OpenAI because of its leadership's lies, deception and recklessness.
Here’s what You can Do
Spread the word on social media: boycott ChatGPT to prevent AI-assisted abuses of power by government and corporate actors!
Advocate for responsible use of AI.
Many AI providers better than ChatGPT exist; consider switching to a better alternative: search (find in page) the term, “alternative”, in this link for more information.
Get involved with the QuitGPT organization and help make this boycott a success!
Will a Boycott Work?
From the QuitGPT website:
OpenAI is deep in debt and losing 3x more than they earn. They have only one lifeline: high name recognition among millions of casual users—many of whom are young and progressive—who don't even know about competing chatbots.
That means that ChatGPT is uniquely vulnerable to a boycott. If free and paid users stop using ChatGPT, cutting off OpenAI's supply of revenue and data and weakening their brand, investors get scared. If we make an example of ChatGPT, we can send a clear signal to every CEO that their actions will not go unpunished.
