Calling All Craftivists!
Mass 50501 members are known for their outstanding activism signs, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. We are seeking donations from artisans and craft parties to sell at craft fairs this winter season! Do you paint, draw, or make digital art? Sew? Knit/crochet? Whittle? Create jewelry? Forge pottery? Sculpt? Tinker with chain mail? Make poignant t-shirts/hats/mugs? Design awesome protest signs? Any and all crafts are welcome! No donation is too big or too small!
There are lots of ways to participate! Donate crafts! Host a crafting event! More details below:
Artisan Crafters
Those of you who make quality products, and can donate many (>10) of the same or similar products. We encourage artisan crafters to include their business cards for publicity, and should suggest prices for their work.
Craft Parties
We encourage everyone to host craft parties! Craftivism is an amazing way to meet new friends and catch up with old ones. Don’t craft? That's okay—if you host, the crafters will find their way to you. We have a limited number of Craftivism-specific knit/crochet/bracelet patterns available to share. Or follow your muse! Crafting events can be (1) private or (2) public. For our records, we ask that you fill out the form before the event, but if you forget, after will do.
Private
These could be events held at your house or another private space. You invite the people you want there, and have a lovely time making things together. For private events, we will coordinate with the organizer for craft collection. We’ll also want to know how many people attended your event
Public
Public places like local libraries or parks are a great way to meet new people! You can coordinate with these and other local institutions to set up public events, open to the public. We can help advertise your event though our newsletter, but you should expect to do a decent amount of advertising yourself. These are a little harder to plan—we believe in you! For private events, we’ll need a contact person, date/time, location, and the number of people who attended your event.
Not sure what to make? If inspiration has yet to hit you, we have patterns, available here Craft Patterns as early as Friday afternoon (10/10). We will keep adding patterns as we get more. If you’d like to donate a pattern, email it to fundraising@mass50501.org
